History

The current Miss Rodeo New York, Inc. organization was formed late 2011and incorporated in early 2012. Spurred on by Oswego County resident, Paige Jerrett’s desire to represent her home state at the Miss Rodeo America Pageant. This was a dream she had kindled from the time she had met a Miss Rodeo New York in 2017. This, however, was the last young woman from NY to hold the title.

The last New York queen to compete for the title of Miss Rodeo America was Miss Rodeo New York 1996, Donette Whaley, also an Oswego county resident. Donette and Paige connected over social media, and Donette became the National director for the organization. Together, along with a large support group from Paige’s hometown, they started the Miss Rodeo New York program back up after a 16- year hiatus and have sent a girl to America every year they had an eligible Miss candidate since.

Prior to this, Kathy Martin of Double M in Ballston Spa, NY had been the director of the Miss Rodeo New York program during the 90s. Stacey Mullady, MRNY 1994 helped her direct the ’95 – ’96 queens. Double M had hosted PRCA rodeos every Friday, which the queens carried the American flag, signed autographs, and held 50/50 raffles to fundraise. Double M Arena and Western store owners, Kathy and Ron Martin owned the stock contracting business of the All-American Rodeo Company as well. The state queens would travel the state with them performing their duties throughout their year.
